I've even been able to get a few words of spanish conjured up out of some deep forgotten memory cells on occasion during RTTY contacts. I have had many long ragchews on RTTY with DX stations from the Ukraine to South America, and from Africa to Australia. On RTTY, accents do not get in the way, and many people who would otherwise not be comfortable with english are able to get enough across to make for great conversation. And, as I said before, despite being unable to really understand or speak spanish in "real time" I can do a little on RTTY. Then again my brain is able to concentrate on the language, rather than being tied up doing encoding and decoding. I think it is great that some people really enjoy ragchewing on CW. Personally, I do mine on RTTY, amtor, pactor and other digital modes. To each his own. 73, Dan -- --------------------------------------------------------------- Daniel Senie Internet: dts@world.std.com Daniel Senie Consulting n1jeb@world.std.com 508-365-5352 Compuserve: 74176,1347 ------------------------------ End of Ham-Policy Digest V94 #108 ******************************
